Frequently Asked Questions

Everything pastors and church leaders need to know about Fayette County’s Back to Church Sunday initiative.

Back to Church Sunday is a unified, countywide invitation effort designed to help churches across Fayette County invite people back into Christian community on the same weekend.

Through direct mail, digital outreach, and personal invitations, we are working together to place an invitation into every home in the county and encourage believers to actively invite others into relationship with Christ and His Church.

Participating churches must:

  • Affirm the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Nicene Creed
  • Uphold in both word and practice the biblical ethic of marriage and sexuality
  • Complete the church opt-in form
  • Contribute $350 toward the campaign effort

Thanks to the generosity of CityReach and campaign partners, this amount covers only a portion of the actual outreach cost.

Scholarship assistance may be available for churches facing financial limitations.

Churches may email:

support@cityreach.us

  • Inclusion on the public-facing church map
  • Countywide direct mail outreach
  • Social media graphics and communication tools
  • Yard signs and invite materials
  • Announcement and sermon resources
  • Access to pastor encouragement and soul-care resources
  • Ongoing communication and campaign coordination

Each invitation directs people via QR code to an interactive countywide church map where they can discover participating churches near them.

Visitors can filter churches by service times, ministries, programs, and more to help them find the right fit.

Each participating church receives a church profile that can include:

  • Church description
  • Address and directions
  • Service times
  • Website and contact information
  • Ministry offerings
  • Additional visitor information

Churches may also opt into Gloo’s free texting platform, which integrates with systems like CCB and other church management platforms. This allows potential visitors to text directly with your church.

We also strongly encourage churches to maximize local visibility through:

  • Street and building banners
  • Personal invitation cards for congregants
  • Yard signs
  • Our ready-made social media posting schedule

The goal is not simply mass awareness, but empowering believers to personally invite others into authentic Christian community.

The primary outreach strategy is a countywide direct mail campaign that places invitations into every home in Fayette County.

But even more importantly, this effort is designed to embolden believers to live as missional inviters in everyday life.

Our prayer is that congregations across the county would increasingly live out the simple invitation:

“Join me. I want you to encounter my King.”

The greatest impact happens when churches combine large-scale outreach with personal invitation.

The 7 Days of Prayer Initiative is a digital, countywide prayer movement leading up to Back to Church Sunday.

It is designed to unite churches in praying for one another, our neighbors, and the flourishing of Fayette County.

Beginning September 13, participants who opt in will receive a Scripture-guided prayer prompt by text each day at noon.

To participate, individuals can text:

“Fayette Prays” to 833-405-4302

Churches are welcome to share the initiative with their staff, leadership teams, or their entire congregation as a simple way to cultivate unity and prayer across the county.

No. All sermon outlines, announcement scripts, and communication materials are optional resources intended to reduce preparation workload and create alignment around the weekend.

Churches are encouraged to adapt materials as needed for their congregation.

Churches from a variety of denominations and traditions are welcome to participate so long as they affirm the core theological and ethical commitments outlined above.

The vision is unity around the Gospel and a shared desire to help people encounter Christ.

No. The church map is designed to help people discover churches throughout Fayette County based on geography, ministries, service times, and personal fit.

Churches of all sizes are encouraged to participate.

Back to Church Sunday is intended to be a beginning, not an endpoint.

Churches are encouraged to prepare clear next steps for guests through:

  • Small groups
  • Bible studies
  • Prayer gatherings
  • Alpha or discipleship pathways
  • Family ministries
  • Personal follow-up and hospitality

Long-term transformation happens through ongoing discipleship and authentic Christian community.

Many people in Fayette County are spiritually open but disconnected from church community.

When churches stand together visibly in unity, it becomes a powerful witness to the Gospel and creates momentum that no single church could generate alone.

No. This is a collaborative effort among local churches, pastors, and ministry leaders across Fayette County.

The focus is Gospel-centered unity, encouragement, and outreach to the community.

Churches can complete the opt-in form on the pastors page.

Once submitted, the church will receive onboarding communication, campaign resources, and next-step information from the coordination team.

A LONG OBEDIENCE IN THE SAME DIRECTION

Now more than ever, we need pastors who will stay the course. To that end, we've curated a library of resources, from soul-care retreats to financial planning services, to help pastors avoid burnout. It's the long obedience in the same direction that most beautifully witnesses to Christ.
